DTTC is a method of treatment for those children diagnosed with severe Childhood Apraxia of Speech. Motor learning principles are incorporated to develop muscle memory for improved speech production. The focus of DTTC is dynamic speech movements rather than isolated sound productions.

There are four components to delivering this technique.

  • Simultaneous production
  • Immediate repetition
  • Repetition after delay
  • Spontaneous production

Each therapy plan is individualized and specific to a child’s motor planning deficits and needs. Targets are functional and meaningful. There are words targeted without the use of pictures or lists. Rate of speech is an important component of therapy as well.
